- In Norse Mythology, Fenrir is a demonic wolf and one of the sons of Loki. He is foretold to kill Odin during the Ragnarok, so he was captured by the Gleipnir and killed by Tyr, losing his hand to Fenrir during the battle.
- Following that lore, the Gleipnir card "captures" Fenrir by putting it on its soul, but when Gleipnir is destroyed, Fenrir can be "unleashed" by calling it without paying its call cost.
- At the time of this card's release, it held the record for the highest original critical on a card at "6". This record was later broken after the release of Demonic Demise Sword, Aqulta Gwaneff, Whistle Fedwal Ugaine with its 8 critical, and Overgod "0" with its 12 critical.
