- "Kuro" is the Japanese word for "black".
- "Muramasa" comes from Muramasa Senji, a famous swordsmith. It was said that he himself was a mad person and that the swords he created, while incredibly sharp, were instilled with so much bloodlust that they demanded blood whenever they were drawn and could not be sheathed if they were not satisfied, forcing the wielder to harm others or themselves to be satiated.
- This can be seen in the self-damaging effect of this card whenever it attacks.
