"Keywords" are a special text that represent an ability. They work as a form of shorthand in order to save both space on the card text and time when reading them. Also, they can be used when a card will be get/lost one or more of these keywords.
In card texts, a reminder text about the keyword can be included. That is, a parenthesized text which explains the main funtion of that ability. However, the reminder text itself has no real effect on gameplay, but illustrate rules to the players about how that ability works.
Stopped Time[]
With the release of S Special Series 3: The End Zero and Perfected Deity of Eon, The Endruler Dragon, the ability to "Stop Time" was introduced. A player who is in "Stopped Time" cannot activate cards or abilities, including keyword abilities.
For example, if Perfected Deity of Eon, The Endruler Dragon attacks and destroys a monster with Soulguard, the monster will be sent to the dropzone as the ability will not activate due to being in stopped time.

Card abilities cannot be declared and used in stopped time, and keyword abilities cannot be used. A player in stopped time cannot declare and use any cards and abilities. |
